Saegis Sports Week is a week-long event designed to encourage teamwork , physical fitness, and fun via sports activities in indoor and outdoor games as well. Friendly competitions between students from various faculties foster camaraderie and excitement on campus. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and strengthens links among the campus community by encouraging student involvement in a range of sports and leisure pursuits and fostering a lively and enjoyable environment.   The Sports Week organized by sports club commenced on the 30th of June 2025 with a grand opening ceremony  and ended in a climax with the Saegis Premier League Cricket Tournament  on the 12th of July 2025. Vice Chancellor , Major General Milinda Pieris stood as the mentor with the overall supervision and guidance of Mr. Edward Costa ( Assistant Registrar- Student Affairs ) , Dr. Esmond de Silva ( Registrar ), Mr. Navod KOtugoda ( Dean of IT faculty) Mr. Abilaas Rengnathan ( Lecturer ), Mr.Themira Avishanka ( Lecturer ) and Mr. Janidu Priyashan Fernando ( Lecturer) while the organizing committees of each sport shared their responsibilities in all earnest.  

Nugegoda, Sri Lanka – In a landmark event solidifying its commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, Saegis Campus officially adopted the Saegis Sustainability Charter. The charter, which formalizes the institution's pledge to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was presented to the Vice Chancellor, Maj Gen Milinda Peiris, by Professor Prasanna Premadasa, the Advisor to the Saegis Committee on Sustainability.   The ceremony was held at the main campus in Nugegoda and was distinguished by the inclusive gathering of the entire Saegis community. In attendance were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Director of Academic and International Affairs, academic and administrative staff, students, and crucially, support staff including sanitation and maintenance teams. The event also welcomed several members from the local Nugegoda community, underscoring the charter's focus on community engagement.       Professor Prasanna Premadasa, Advisor to the Saegis Committee on Sustainability, officially presents the charter to Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Milinda Peiris.   Professor Premadasa noted that the charter is a culmination of practical sustainability initiatives that have been actively practiced on campus since July of last year. "This document is not the beginning of our journey, but a formalization of our commitment," he stated. "It is a pledge developed from real-world experience and a shared passion across our entire campus community to make a meaningful difference."       The launch event was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, reflecting the charter's inclusive approach.   Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Milinda Peiris emphasized the institution's responsibility. "As a center of higher learning, we have an obligation not just to educate, but to lead by example," he said. "This Charter is our unwavering commitment to embedding sustainability into the very DNA of Saegis Campus. We are not only building a green campus but also shaping future leaders who will drive the sustainable transformation our world urgently needs."     The adoption of the charter marks a significant milestone for Saegis Campus, setting a clear, strategic path forward. It will be implemented in phases, beginning with foundational work from 2025-2027 and advancing towards achieving leadership and innovation in sustainability by 2040. This commitment positions Saegis Campus as a proactive force for positive change in Sri Lanka's higher education landscape.  

On Magam Sport Club Shooting Sports Competition 2025, organized by the Magam Sports Club , 7 Members of Saegis Campus Shooting Sports Squad (SCSSS) for earning the Sharpshooter titles and We extend our heartfelt congratulations to P. H. Sahan Madhawa  for securing 1st place in the University Men Air Pistol 30 Shots PCP  while Tharushi Dasunika Mohottiarachchi for securing 2nd place in the University Women Air Rifle 10 Shots event. N D Jayatillake  was able  to secure the 3rd place in the University Men Air Rifle 10 Shots Shots event.  Saegis Campus Shooting Sports Squad (SCSSS) Mens Team was also able to secure the 3rd place in the University Men Air Rifle 10 Shots – Team Event as well.

We proudly celebrate the outstanding achievement of 10 members from the Saegis Campus Shooting Sports Squad (SCSSS) for earning the Sharpshooter title at the Inter-University Air Rifle and Pistol Individual Qualifying Competition 2025, organized by the Academics Air Arms Association of Sri Lanka. Also We extend our heartfelt congratulations to P. H. Sahan Madhawa for securing 1st place in the Air Pistol Spotter - 15 Shots (Men’s Event) and Janaka Maduka Bandara for securing 2nd place in the Air Rifle Spotter - 15 Shots (Men’s Event)

The second-year Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduates of Saegis Campus had a hotel visit to Cinnamon Citadel Kandy along with a scenic train ride from Colombo to Kandy for a unique travel experience on the 7th of January 2025. This visit was organized to offer students first-hand experience in the main operational departments of a hotel chain, with a focus on hygiene, grooming, and Sustainable practices in hotel operation. The Department of Management extends the sincerest appreciation to the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy and Ms. Savani De Alwis, Manager of Human Resources in the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy for facilitating this visit and continuing to support the Department’s tourism and hospitality-related initiatives and activities.

Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka – December 8, 2024 – In a powerful fusion of sportsmanship and environmentalism, the Saegis Leo Club joined forces with the Galle Marvels, Sri Lanka's one and only franchise cricket team, for a "Clean Beach Drive" on Sunday, 8th December 2024. The collaborative shoreline cleaning campaign took place at the picturesque Sugar Beach, Mount Lavinia, uniting volunteers in a shared mission to promote the values and vital benefits of a pristine coastal environment. This unique partnership saw members of the Saegis Leo Club and representatives from the Galle Marvels cricket franchise working side-by-side, combing the shoreline to remove plastic waste, polythene, and other debris. The initiative aimed not only to clean a popular public beach but also to leverage the influential platform of cricket to send a strong message about community responsibility and environmental conservation. The "Clean Beach Drive" directly champions several key global goals, including UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, by preventing land-based waste from polluting the ocean, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by enhancing a beloved public space. Furthermore, the event perfectly embodied SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how different sectors can collaborate effectively for a common cause. "The energy and commitment shown by everyone today is truly inspiring," said a representative from the Saegis Leo Club. "Partnering with a national icon like the Galle Marvels has amplified our message tremendously. It shows that protecting our environment is a team sport, and everyone has a role to play. A clean beach is not just a beautiful sight; it's essential for our ecosystem, our tourism, and our future." A spokesperson from the Galle Marvels added, "As a team that represents the spirit and beauty of Sri Lanka, we are proud to stand for the preservation of our nation's natural treasures. Saegis Campus held its 2024 Convocation with glamour and decorum as graduates received their degrees and celebrated their hard work. Families, friends, and faculty filled the hall with joy and applause, honoring the success of every student. The event inspired graduates to move forward with confidence, carrying lessons beyond the classroom. Saegis Campus marked the day as a symbol of academic excellence and achievement, while encouraging students to pursue their dreams and contribute to society with purpose and vision.

World Tourism Day Celebrations 2024 was held on 26th September 2024 at Saegis Campus. This event was organized by the Saegis Tourism Club, Department of Management, Saegis Campus Nugegoda, in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom to honor this year’s theme, “Tourism and Peace.”

12.05.2024 - In a significant move reaffirming its commitment to global progress and sustainable practices, Saegis Campus today announced the launch of a new, dedicated website showcasing its extensive contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This digital platform marks a key milestone for the institution, transparently detailing its efforts to create a positive and lasting impact on society and the environment. The new website serves as a comprehensive hub for students, faculty, partners, and the public to explore the various initiatives, and operational changes Saegis Campus has implemented to align with the seventeen UN SDGs. It underscores the institution's role as a leading higher education provider dedicated not just to academic excellence but also to fostering a culture of social responsibility and environmental stewardship. "Our mission extends beyond the lecture halls. We are deeply committed to embedding the principles of sustainability into the very fabric of our institution," said Maj Gen Milinda Peiris (Retd), Vice Chancellor of Saegis Campus. "This website is a testament to the collective efforts of our entire community—our innovative students, dedicated faculty, and forward-thinking staff. It is our public promise to continue working towards a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable world for all." 1

Saegis Campus recently celebrated its Graduation Day at the campus premises, honoring the achievements of students who successfully completed their programs. The ceremony was a momentous occasion, recognizing the dedication and hard work of graduates in the fields of Diploma in English and Diploma in Management and Information Technology. Congratulations to all the graduates for their outstanding accomplishments at Saegis Campus!
