Saegis Sports Week is a week-long event designed to encourage teamwork , physical fitness, and fun via sports activities in indoor and outdoor games as well. Friendly competitions between students from various faculties foster camaraderie and excitement on campus. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and strengthens links among the campus community by encouraging student involvement in a range of sports and leisure pursuits and fostering a lively and enjoyable environment. The Sports Week organized by sports club commenced on the 30th of June 2025 with a grand opening ceremony and ended in a climax with the Saegis Premier League Cricket Tournament on the 12th of July 2025. Vice Chancellor , Major General Milinda Pieris stood as the mentor with the overall supervision and guidance of Mr. Edward Costa ( Assistant Registrar- Student Affairs ) , Dr. Esmond de Silva ( Registrar ), Mr. Navod KOtugoda ( Dean of IT faculty) Mr. Abilaas Rengnathan ( Lecturer ), Mr.Themira Avishanka ( Lecturer ) and Mr. Janidu Priyashan Fernando ( Lecturer) while the organizing committees of each sport shared their responsibilities in all earnest.

Nugegoda, Sri Lanka – In a landmark event solidifying its commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, Saegis Campus officially adopted the Saegis Sustainability Charter. The charter, which formalizes the institution's pledge to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was presented to the Vice Chancellor, Maj Gen Milinda Peiris, by Professor Prasanna Premadasa, the Advisor to the Saegis Committee on Sustainability. The ceremony was held at the main campus in Nugegoda and was distinguished by the inclusive gathering of the entire Saegis community. In attendance were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Director of Academic and International Affairs, academic and administrative staff, students, and crucially, support staff including sanitation and maintenance teams. The event also welcomed several members from the local Nugegoda community, underscoring the charter's focus on community engagement. Professor Prasanna Premadasa, Advisor to the Saegis Committee on Sustainability, officially presents the charter to Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Milinda Peiris. Professor Premadasa noted that the charter is a culmination of practical sustainability initiatives that have been actively practiced on campus since July of last year. "This document is not the beginning of our journey, but a formalization of our commitment," he stated. "It is a pledge developed from real-world experience and a shared passion across our entire campus community to make a meaningful difference." The launch event was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, reflecting the charter's inclusive approach. Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Milinda Peiris emphasized the institution's responsibility. "As a center of higher learning, we have an obligation not just to educate, but to lead by example," he said. "This Charter is our unwavering commitment to embedding sustainability into the very DNA of Saegis Campus. We are not only building a green campus but also shaping future leaders who will drive the sustainable transformation our world urgently needs." The adoption of the charter marks a significant milestone for Saegis Campus, setting a clear, strategic path forward. It will be implemented in phases, beginning with foundational work from 2025-2027 and advancing towards achieving leadership and innovation in sustainability by 2040. This commitment positions Saegis Campus as a proactive force for positive change in Sri Lanka's higher education landscape.

The second-year Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduates of Saegis Campus had a hotel visit to Cinnamon Citadel Kandy along with a scenic train ride from Colombo to Kandy for a unique travel experience on the 7th of January 2025. This visit was organized to offer students first-hand experience in the main operational departments of a hotel chain, with a focus on hygiene, grooming, and Sustainable practices in hotel operation. The Department of Management extends the sincerest appreciation to the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy and Ms. Savani De Alwis, Manager of Human Resources in the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy for facilitating this visit and continuing to support the Department’s tourism and hospitality-related initiatives and activities.

Saegis Campus held its 2024 Convocation with glamour and decorum as graduates received their degrees and celebrated their hard work. Families, friends, and faculty filled the hall with joy and applause, honoring the success of every student. The event inspired graduates to move forward with confidence, carrying lessons beyond the classroom. Saegis Campus marked the day as a symbol of academic excellence and achievement, while encouraging students to pursue their dreams and contribute to society with purpose and vision.

This visit was organized with the prime aim of offering students first-hand experience of the operational departments in an international star-class hotel, along with a focus on hygiene and grooming in hotel operations. The Department of Management extends its sincerest appreciation to Sofia Colombo City Hotel and Mr. SP Illangakoon and Mr. Narada Jayasinghe for facilitating this visit and continuing to support the Department’s tourism and hospitality-related initiatives and activities.

World Tourism Day Celebrations 2024 was held on 26th September 2024 at Saegis Campus. This event was organized by the Saegis Tourism Club, Department of Management, Saegis Campus Nugegoda, in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom to honor this year’s theme, “Tourism and Peace.”
