The Lingua Lounge and Debating Wing successfully organized its third overall workshop and the second session in the Uni Arena Debate Workshop Series, centered on the theme "Debate Like a Pro." Held on July 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the 8th Floor, Saegis Campus, the session welcomed 45 enthusiastic undergraduate participants. The workshop was led by returning guest speaker Mr. Gimhan Sooriyabandara (Attorney-at-Law and Founder/President of the Colombo Independent Debaters’ Society). Building upon the foundational skills introduced in the first session, the main objective of this workshop was to elevate students' debating capabilities to an advanced, professional level. Throughout the session, attendees learned structured strategy techniques, effective rebuttal formulations, and practical methods to sharpen their argument delivery under pressure. The interactive environment encouraged lively discussions, allowing undergraduates to actively apply logical reasoning and critical analysis to real-time debate scenarios. By participating in hands-on practical exercises, students noticeably improved their confidence, point construction, and tactical thinking. The workshop achieved remarkable success in turning theoretical concepts into practical eloquence, empowering participants to communicate with clarity and authority. Ultimately, this third initiative reinforced the club's commitment to nurturing skilled communicators, marking another significant triumph for the ongoing debate series.
