Saegis Campus and EMA Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen Event Management Education in Sri Lanka

Saegis Campus and EMA Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen Event Management Education in Sri Lanka Saegis Campus and the Event Management Association (EMA) of Sri Lanka signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement represents a significant move toward strengthening the relationship between higher education and the event management industry. The MoU supports the launch of the Pearson BTEC International Specialist Diploma in International Event Management and Marketing Studies. This programme offers a structured academic pathway for students who aim to pursue professional careers in the events sector. Saegis Campus hosted the signing ceremony, which brought together key representatives from both institutions and emphasized the importance of this partnership. The Executive Committee of EMA for the 2026–2027 term attended the event under the leadership of President Mr Saliya Weerasekara. Other officials present included Vice President Mr Bathiya Jayakody, Secretary Mr Uzmaan Ghouse, Treasurer Mr Azmath Jahn, Assistant Secretary Mr Gayan Attanayake, and Committee Members Mr Janice Hakel Ranasinghe and Mr Romesh Fernando. Members of EMA’s Advisory Council and past leadership also participated in the event. These included Mr Gerry Jayasinghe (Advisory Council Member and Past President), Mr Nishan Wasalathantri (Advisory Council Member), and Mr Nisal Caldera (Immediate Past President). Representatives from Saegis Campus and the Sakya Group of Higher Education included Mr Bandara Dissanayake (Chairman and Managing Director), Major General Milinda Peiris (Retd) (Vice-Chancellor and CEO), and Senior Prof. W. G. D. Dharmaratna (Professor Emeritus and Deputy Vice-Chancellor). The academic leadership team comprised Dr Krishani Anuaradha Jayasinghe (Director of Academic and International Affairs), Ms Yamuna Fernando (Dean, Faculty of Management, Humanities and Social Sciences), Ms Gayani Arumapperuma (Director, Career Guidance Unit), Ms Nishara Epasinghe (Chief Operations Officer), and Mr Chathurka Rangebandara (Head of Marketing). This collaboration establishes Saegis Campus as the exclusive academic partner of EMA and strengthens the connection between academic learning and professional practice in event management. Saegis Campus and EMA will jointly develop a curriculum aligned with international industry standards. In addition, the institutions will provide masterclasses, guest lectures, practical learning opportunities, and industry placements through EMA’s professional network. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing skilled and globally competitive graduates who can contribute effectively to the expanding events industry in Sri Lanka. Leo Club of Saegis Campus Supports Thammannapura Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura

On 18 December 2025, the Leo Club of Saegis Campus, in collaboration with the Noble Dawn Foundation, Australia, successfully carried out a meaningful community service initiative at Thammannapura Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura—a school identified as requiring educational support Thammannapura Vidyalaya serves nearly 200 highly talented students from Grades 1 to 11, and the initiative was designed to positively contribute to their academic and extracurricular development. As part of this project, the Leo Club of Saegis Campus provided school exercise books for the entire student population to support their learning needs for the 2026 academic year. In addition, the Noble Dawn Foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Avinash Pieris, donated sports equipment aimed at nurturing and enhancing the students’ sporting talents. The Leo Club of Saegis Campus is comprised of enthusiastic and socially responsible young leaders who are guided by their Staff Advisor, Senior Lecturer Ms. Paramitha Herath. The club consistently upholds the core value of giving back to society, with a strong commitment to serving the nation from a young age and ensuring that communities feel genuinely supported. This initiative was made possible through the generous contributions of students, staff members, and members of the wider community, who placed their trust in the Leo Club of Saegis Campus to ensure that their donations reached those in need. The donation event was thoughtfully organized within the school premises, with the active support and leadership of the principal and staff of Thammannapura Vidyalaya, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the students. The event was graced by the presence of Major General (Retired) Milinda Pieris, Vice Chancellor of Saegis Campus; Mr. Avinash Pieris, CEO of the Noble Dawn Foundation; Ms. Paramitha Herath, Staff Advisor of the Leo Club of Saegis Campus; along with members of the Leo Club. This initiative has made a significant and meaningful impact on the educational journey of the students of Thammannapura Vidyalaya. Empowering young minds through education and opportunity remains the ultimate goal of the Leo Club of Saegis Campus, as it continues to serve communities with purpose, integrity, and compassion.

NeuroSphere

“NeuroSphere,” held on October 25 2025, was an AI workshop designed to teach students the ethical, responsible, and productive use of AI tools while improving digital literacy and critical thinking. The event provided practical guidance for applying AI in research, assignments, and academic routines, strengthening Rotaract’s role in professional development. It also enhanced student engagement and provided organisers with valuable experience in planning, coordination, and leadership. Supported by funds from earlier stalls, the workshop promoted responsible AI use and meaningful skill development on campus.

Installation Ceremony

The Rotaract Club of Saegis Campus Installation Ceremony 2025/26, held on October 4 2025, formally inducted the new President, Board of Directors, and members, marking the start of a new leadership term. The event strengthened fellowship among Rotaractors, advisors, parents, and guests while promoting leadership development and teamwork. Held at the Saegis Campus Auditorium, the ceremony featured badge presentations, motivational speeches, and a fellowship session that fostered unity, built community relationships, and enhanced members’ personal and professional growth.

Synergize

“Synergize,” held on August 28 2025, was a new members’ program by the Membership Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of Saegis Campus. Designed to build community, teamwork, and interpersonal connections, it served as a membership drive and onboarding event with no fundraising element. Participants learned about Rotaract’s mission, networked with existing members, and joined engaging activities. Featuring speeches, introductions, announcements, a club video, and a group photo, the event successfully created a warm and interactive atmosphere, strengthening future collaboration.
